Patong is a difficult town to cross on wheels. Pavements narrow without warning, kerbs are high, and the footpath often ends at a parked motorbike. Anyone pushing a wheelchair or a stroller learns to plan the day around the flat.
Jungceylon is one of those stretches. The mall is located in central Patong, about 400 metres from the beach, and its four zones are linked by wide, step-free walkways and lifts. This guide covers what to do first, which parts of the mall need no lift at all, where the one lift you are likely to need is.
Start at the Information Counter
The Information Counter is at the Sai 2 Entrance, on the ground floor of The Jungle Zone. Make it the first stop of the visit.
Jungceylon runs a free wheelchair service and a free baby stroller service, and this counter is where to ask for both. It is the stop when you have arrived without equipment, or when the folding chair in the taxi boot turns out to be the wrong one.
Tourist Privilege Booth in The Bay Zone is the second point. It handles the tourist privilege card, gift redemption and general information, and it is close to the drop-off.
Getting as far as the entrance
The approach matters more than the mall does. A visitor who cannot get from the hotel to the door will never see the flat floors inside.
Patong's pavements are not built for wheels. Widths change mid-block, dropped kerbs are inconsistent, and parked motorbikes routinely take the footpath. We have not measured the streets around the mall, so this guide does not grade them and will not tell you a route is fine when nobody has pushed a chair along it.
It is best to arrive by car or taxi and use the drop-off in The Bay Zone, which avoids the pavements entirely. If you are walking from a nearby hotel, allow more time than the distance suggests, and expect to use the road surface at some crossings.
Most restaurants are at ground floor
The Garden Zone is the mall's main dining zone, and its restaurants are all at ground level. Churrasco Phuket Steakhouse, Thai Food Factory and Wabi Sabi Japanese Restaurant are on the ground floor of that zone, a short roll apart from one another. A full sit-down meal is possible without touching a lift, which is not true of every mall in Phuket.
Two more reasons to stay in the same zone are on the same floor. The Carousel and Robocoaster are both on the ground floor of The Garden Zone, so children have somewhere to go while the adults finish eating, and nobody changes floors to get there.
The one lift you are likely to need
Only one common destination in the mall requires a floor change. SF Cinema is on the third floor of The Botanica Zone.
Take the lift from ground level in The Botanica Zone up to 3F. The cinema is on that floor, and so are XD Theater, Froggy's Fun Park and Kidzooona, so one lift ride covers most of the mall's family entertainment in a single stop.
For anyone who drove, this is the best-value long stop in the mall. Cinema visitors get the first four hours of parking free.
Two places to stop
The Coffee Club in The Bay Zone is on the ground floor near the drop-off, which makes it the natural first or last stop of a visit. It is a place to sit with the bags while someone else brings the car round.
For a longer break, Thairapy is on the basement floor of The Jungle Zone. That basement is the mall's Thai massage row, so if Thairapy is full, Chantara Massage and Sansabai Massage are on the same floor.
Parking and the drop-off
The drop-off is in The Bay Zone. Parking is charged as follows:
- First 30 minutes free, then 20 baht per hour
- Cars are free for the first three hours with a minimum spend of 500 baht
- Motorcycles are free for the first three hours with a minimum spend of 200 baht
- Cinema visitors are free for the first four hours, then 20 baht per hour
- 50 baht per hour for stays over five hours
- Any part of an hour is charged as a full hour
Pay at an autopay machine before returning to the car. There are two: one on the basement parking level, in front of the lift, and one at the entrance across from the parking building.
Jungceylon publishes nothing about accessible parking bays. If a reserved bay matters to your day, ask at the Information Counter rather than assuming one is waiting.
Heat, rain, and a stroller day that works
Jungceylon is open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day.
Heat. The hottest part of a Patong day falls in the early afternoon, and the indoor zones are the coolest place within walking distance of the beach. Boots on the ground floor of The Botanica Zone have sunscreen, water and most of what people run out of by mid-afternoon.
Rain. Phuket's green season brings short, heavy downpours rather than all-day drizzle. Wheels and wet tile are a poor combination, so slow down across entrance floors after rain. Parts of the mall are open-air, so plan a covered route in wet weather instead of improvising one.
A stroller day that needs no lift. Lunch in The Garden Zone, the Carousel and Robocoaster in the same zone, coffee in The Bay Zone, and a look at Naraya on the ground floor of The Jungle Zone. Borrow the stroller at the Information Counter on the way in and return it on the way out.
